One of the interiors for the Tanith Lee novel Gold Unicorn. This was a book Byron Preiss gave me to keep me occupied while negotiations with DC Comics over the I, Robot comic book dragged on.

Lord of War

Another Gold Unicorn interior. The other-worldly villain seduces the young sister of our heroine Tanaquil.

Orbits

Commissioned by Malhavoc Press for their Arcana Unearthed game book. This piece won the Chesley Award for best gaming-related illustration in 2004.

Gift of the Stars

A series of books I love working on: Easton Press' classic science fiction, leather-bound and with color frontispiece. This was for James Gunn's Gift From the Stars.

Freshwater Nixie

Occasionally I get to do a straight zoological study. Nymphae Lymphae are found, with the right detection equipment, in certain freshwater lakes, ponds and streams. The amphibious merfolk of the inlands, so to speak. This was drawn for my friend Tony's Spiderwick Chronicles: The Completely Fantastical Edition.

Quattro

Done for the frontispiece of the beautifully-bound Easton Press edition of John Barnes' Directive 51. The old man was named Quattro by his mother, and runs his vegetable oil-fueled "Checker cab of the air" in the midst of a nano/biotech armageddon that has rendered digital electronics and complex machinery useless.
